Key responsibilities

The Captain has the command onboard and holds the full responsibility for the vessel, the cargo and the crew. The Captain is responsible for ensuring that all operations are compliant with flag state legislation, charterers and the Owner’s procedures and that Maersk Supply Service’s Safety Management System and Policy is adhered to. 

To be a Captain in Maersk Supply Service the minimum requirements are:

  • Certificate of Competence (STCW A-II/2) 
  • Dynamic Positioning - Unlimited 
  • GMDSS (STCW A-IV/2) 
  • ECDIS Generic IMO 01.27 
  • Advanced Firefighting (STCW A-VI/3) 
  • In Charge of Medical Care (STCW VI/4-2) 
  • Designated Security Duties (STCW A-VI/6-2)
